Building Careers: Linking Employers and Talented Professionals by Cindy Small

Belinda Parton, owner of Alliance Solutions has a unique gift of offering personalized technical staffing within engineering and technical operations. She is a one-woman operation whose philosophy is "the right person person for the right company equals the right position." With twenty seven years of staffing under her belt, and a human dynamo to boot, Ms. Parton gives 150% to her clients and her business.

Her career began as a temporary secretary with an engineering agency. She found herself surrounded by a world of purchasing agents, technical writers, and program managers. And she absolutely loved it! Having an innate interest in "how things work", made her secretarial position the platform for Ms. Parton to pole-vault into the world specialized technical recruitment. She brings much wisdom to the table using her formula for creating relationships with her clients while referring to them as her "business family".

"Clients are never considered a number," says this multi-type recruiter.

Promoting diversity in the workforce is quite challenging in the engineering arena where few women dare to roam, but Ms. Parton takes pleasure in the challenge. She skillfully points out that when she reviews a resume, there are never any judgment calls. In fact, she makes it a point upon reviewing a resume never to look at the name of the applicant. She concentrates on experience, skill level, education, writing skills and the technical abilities of the applicant. Armed with databases fully of industry facts and statistics, she is able to perform analysis on salaries, demographics, and minorities in the workplace so that everyone applying with her firm gets a fair shake. She is determined to promote diversity within her client and applicant business dealings at all times.
